Match report Malahide Girls won exciting match in Railway Union that got closer than it should have! Batting 1st Malahide got off to a flyer with first wicket pair of Caoimhe (skippy for the day) and Mags putting on 50 runs in quick time. Railway Opener Amy then found her line and got Caoimhe caught off a widish ball outside off and shortly after Mags was bowled with beautiful inswinger. A Few wickets fell with Orla and Ella very unlucky after they look be in. It took good partnership between Hannah and Sarah Brophy to get Malahide going again. Both batting very well with Sarah punishing the bad ball and Hannah rotating strike nicely. Just as Hannah look very settled she holed out to super catch at mid wicket boundary. Sarah kept innings going with good support from Vineeta. After Sarah was out Sarah Condron with Vineeta batted several overs to get total up. Railway innings also got off to quick start but Orla then took 2 quick wickets to slow it down. Mags and Orla then both got their radar working and slow Railway initially. Some good steady bowling from Grace and Sarah Condron made the Railway girls work hard for their runs. 2 Railway girls Orla Flanagan and Amy Kelly gave excellent display of batting, good shot selection and excellent running between wickets, much to Malahide girls frustration! However malahide girls kept pressure on with Lucy gaining a valuable wicket and Caoimhe being very mean with her 2 overs at end going for just 6 runs. Good team effort from all and tight exciting win.
