Match report This really was the game that got away, as the Under-13 B team lost an exciting semi-final against Leinster by 35 runs. A fantastic bowling performance from Naoime Docherty (3-12) and Zak Woods-Oliver (4-17) saw Leinster reduced to 19 for 7 after the first six overs, but the momentum could not be maintained and two lower order Leinster batsmen both retired on 26 as they batted through the overs and Malahide ran out of recognised bowlers. However a total of 100 still looked eminently achievable.
Perhaps it was a side effect of our first game of the season on a grass surface but the Malahide run chase never got going. Despite not losing early wickets we were behind the rate from the start due to some tentative running accompanied by accurate bowling form Leinster. Just 11 off the first five overs left a lot to do and as batsmen tried to hit out, Leinster held their catches and we ended up at 65 for 5 from 20 overs which was a disappointing total.
