Match report All good things must come to an end as the saying goes and unfortunately for the Ladies 1st team the excellent unbeaten start to the season ended last night in the Senior cup semi-final away against Merrion.

The skipper won the toss and elected to bat first opening the batting with Mary Waldron. Facing International bowlers at both ends progress was steady but wickets were falling more frequently than the villagers would like slowing the pace of the innings. Despite that everyone who batted chipped in to post a total of 102 for 6 off the 20 overs led by Shillers 30 and Beggsie 18 (even with the skipper doing her best to take her out with an aerial straight drive and also being hampered by a leg injury).

Margaret Richardson opened the bowling and took the edge of the Irish skipper with her 1st ball but unfortunately for the villagers it dropped safely. Despite a few difficulties in the opening couple of overs the Joyce sisters quickly got into their stride and started to knock off the runs at a quick pace. With the score on 84 Sorcha tempted Cecilia 27 into an aerial drive into the safe hands of the Skipper at mid wicket allowing her twin Izzie 60* to finish the chase at the start of the 9th over leading to the first loss of the season for the Ladies 1st team. With matches coming thick and fast now the summer has officially started the team has a chance to get back to winning ways on Thursday at home against Pembroke.
