Match report U13A Boys Beaten By Leinster

The U13A boys were eaten by a strong Leinster team on Sunday morning, not before giving the favourites a scare.

Electing to bat first, Malahide were slowly away against some tight Leinster bowling, and regular falling wickets did not aid the cause. David O'Halloran top scored on 15, with Red Hansen (10), Ryan Court (9) and Alex Hallows (9) providing support. At the end of 20 overs Malahide had scrambled to a score of 63, a mark not expected to trouble their more fancied opponents.

However Malahide began the return innings with plenty of zest and a fantastic double-act from Alex and David saw Leinster struggle to 2 for 16 off the first 8 overs. We dared to believe. Wickets to Zac and Ryan in the next two overs kept the dream alive, but Leinster had held back some batting and the next pair played strongly to accelerate the run rate. Malahide were left searching for more wickets that never came, and Leinster reached the target with 5 overs to spare.
