On a glorious sunny Sunday morning in the Castle, the weather was the best aspect of the day for Malahide as they were comprehensively beaten by league leaders and cup winners YMCA.

Put into bat, YMCA benefited from some fielding errors and missed chances to quickly amass a sizeable target of 200. Three batsman retired past 35 with a fourth reaching 28, but the story would have been so different if sharp chances for each before they reached double digits had been taken.

Faced with needing 10 an over to win, Malahide's innings got off to the worst possible start with two early ducks, and at 4 for 12 the team was looking to the heavens for some unlikely showers. None materialised, but a good stand from Alex Hallows (16) and Ravi Gallipoli (36 retired) saw Malahide past 50 to an final score of 69, a deficit of 131 runs.
