Match report YMCA U13 girls set the standard this morning for U13 girls cricket.
YM batted 1st and gave classy batting display to good quality bowling by all Malahide girls and a superb lesson in running between the wickets to reach 136 for 1 off 20 overs. No neutrals in ground but if had been the 1st hour was great to see such standard batting and bowling on both teams at such a young age.The future really is bright for ladies cricket and all the girls, if all the girls on both teams keep playing and progressing.In response Lucy O'Reilly proved too hot to handle for Malahide top and middle order as she took 4 for 7 runs. Malahide got off to bad start when Mags got run out backing up as Claudia got a fingertip onto a lovely drive from Fiona and she diverted the ball onto bowlers stumps, unfortunately for Mags and Malahide. The girls batted very bravely all the way down the line facing very good YM bowling attack and experience gained was invaluable.Orla O'Connor top scored with 11. The team spirit was highlighted by Hannah O'Donohue, Aislinn Reid and Rachael Pye batting bravely in their 1st year of U13 girls cricket and making sure with Lauren Hunter we batted the 20 overs against such a good bowling attack.
