Match report Fabulous weather matched the beautiful setting of Castle Park School for our match with Dalkey Archives and with a strong team – (in batting order: - Dougie Keegan, Brian Saville, Rev.Gary Millar, Mike Pilkington, Chris Smith, Graham Perry(Capt), Danny Smith, Rishi Sethia, Kevin Murphy, Robbie Condron, Billy Goodwin) – I was feeling fairly confident of getting an away win.

With Dalkey batting first we got them all out for 147, with a few balls of the 20 overs to spare, which was about 25 runs more than we would have liked. At least 20 of these runs coming from the peculiar nature of the pitch, which can cause a ball that is coming straight at you, to suddenly shoot 30 degrees to the left or right, only stoppable if you are a 5-a-side goal keeper of a chicken herder! That said, it was the same for the home side.

Despite the high target it should have been well within our reach since our first 7 batsmen regularly achieve their maximum 20 runs in short order. Unfortunately it was not to be on the night as we lost wickets cheaply and fell way below the run-rate, however halfway through Chris, Danny and I worked hard to pull us back on track, but it was too much for the remaining batsmen to keep the same momentum and although they gave it a good try we ended-up 10 runs short of the win on 137 for 9.
