Match report 4TH XI one out of two in Double Header.
Seeking Retribution at Home in the Second game of this double header against Leinster at home. Malahide lost the toss and were asked to Field. Despite this the Malahide bowling restricted Leinster to a 2 run per over rate for the first half of the innings, fine bowling by Howard Askew with 4 maidens and Conor Gibbons with 3 Maidens really restricted Leinster the main Wicket taker was Richard Brown who took three Wickets in an excellent spell. Alan Godfrey managed to score a well compiled 52 for the visitors however they could only set Malahide a modest 168 to win. In response Malahide maintained the required run rate for the most part of the Innings with CS Koushik (41) and Andrew Richardson (41) really got on top of the bowling. Added to that Clare Shillingtons 28 reaching the target was never really in doubt. The only down side to the day was Skipper Des Horstmann who received a bouncing ball into the mouth while trying to hook the ball, and had to go off injured. Im sure you will join me in wishing Des a speedy recovery and that he will be back playing soon.
