A seven wicket win over Merrion secured the Div 4 title for our 2nds in a re-fixed T20 league game in Anglesea Road that did not prove to be the banana skin that some had predicted.
After winning the toss, Merrion chose to bat and were soon in trouble at 28-3 thanks to early strikes from Cameron Shoebridge (1-23) and Atif Kamal (2-27). Quick fire partnerships of 74 for the 4th and 36 for the 5th wicket between rain showers brought Merrion up to a challenging 159 -6 in their alloted 20 overs.
Another shower at the interval delayed things further and the chasing Malahide had the prospect of going at 8 an over in the fading light. It turned out to be no problem for the villagers with fine contributions from Andy Pyne (22) and Gary Stewart (39) at the top of the innings and then finished off by Richard Wing (60*) and Ian Guerin (27*) with 10 balls to spare.
