Batting first, favourites the Hills 4ths, only made 137 in the reduced 35 overs thanks to some excellent bowling and fielding from a very young Malahide 5th XI. Between the various rain breaks the pick of the home bowlers were Alex Davies (2-22) and Zac Woods-Oliver (2-33)
In reply, skipper Jef Oliver's quick fire 18 got the home side off to a good start but were quickly in trouble going from 28-1 to 29-5 in the space of 4 overs. Veterans Askew and Twaddle steady the ship with a 36 run 6th wicket partnership but once they were gone (both clean bowled to straight deliveries!) the inevitable was looming and came in the 30th over despite a gutsy 10th wicket stand from Wilhelm de Klerk (8*) and Eoghan Keohane (3).
In the end the Hills won by 47 runs.
