A fielding performance that perhaps could have been a little more disciplined probably dictated the outcome of this first round cup tie.   Merrion won the toss and elected to bat achieving a total of 106 included 28 sundries, with several overthrows to add to that number.  Despite this, Ewan and Matthew bowled very well returning 2 wickets apiece.  Dan, Ben, Ciaran, Paul and Binyam all knuckled down to bowl excellent second overs.  Against the trend Eoghan fielded well and Finn stepped up to help with the 'keeping. 
A combination of good bowling, and again, not dispatching the loose ball meant Malahide, after 8 overs were 2 for 18 and 107 was already a big ask.  Indeed, that proved to be the case, with 53 being the final run total after 19.1 overs.  Good innings from Ben, 18  and Diarmuid 10.
