The 5th XI experienced a second disappointing loss of the weekend to The Hills 4ths who took advantage of their 3rds not being in action by bringing a strong team to Malahide. Choosing to bat first in a match reduced to 35 overs, Malahide's top order was decimated by a fiery opening spell from Eoin Carolan who made good use of the short ball. The bulk of the runs came from the ever reliable Mark Duffy (another 50) supported by Alex Davies with 19 and Glynn Higgins with a career best of 19 ( a really brave knock that ensured that we used up our full 35 overs). 138 all out was defendable but well short of a winning score and as the heavy showers came and went, bowling and fielding became increasingly difficult. The only successful bowler was Ryan Condron (2 for 21 in 6 overs) both stumped by Riley Shoebridge who also claimed the 3rd wicket with an excellent direct hit run out. The Hills eventually reached the target in the 29th over.
