3rds Stay Top

04 Aug 2014

In a top versus bottom clash on the mat at the Inch Malahide 3's ran out easy victors against North County 3's.  But not without a scare.  Put into bat, the thirds nursed their way to 187/9 in 45 overs.  Stephen Rubbathan top scored with a well compiled 44.  Richard Wing 19, Mick O'Brien 24 and Desmond Horstmann 20 all got going but none continued.  Hamish Manks 35* kept his head and ensured the full 45 overs were used up.  North County's youthful bowling attack particularly seam bowler Ross Staunton impressed.
The second half was a different story.  North County capitulated and were bowled out for 46 in 21 overs.  Openers Chris Siddle 3/13 and Conor Gibbons 2/18 continued their excellent form and ripped the heart out of the Fingal batting line up.  Manks mopped up with 4 for 11 in 5 overs with another Man of the Match performance.  Richard Wing held onto a swirling catch from John Andrews and also ran out another with a direct hit to complete a good day in the field for the man from Sheffield.
