Under 15A's Beaten in Pembroke

11 Jul 2014

After a long train journey across the City to Sydney Parade, a weakened under 15's team were well beaten by a strong Pembroke side.

With several older boys away or injured for the game, the team was made up of mainly under 13's, with Eoghan Keohane and Diarmuid Burke stepping up from the under 11's.

Batting first Malahide made 135 from their 35 overs, a brilliant 59 from Riley Shoebridge the highlight of the innings.

David O'Halloran took the bravery award for the day after batting on to reach 17 despite a very painful blow in the first over. Despite not being able to bowl because of his injury, he also took two catches later in the game.

Pembroke were always favourites with their strong batting line-up, but an early wicket from John Burke gave Malahide hope.

It was not to be though, as Josh Little came to the crease smashing 60 runs in under 40 balls.

Despite the game being over as a contest Malahide got the wicket of Little and persisted in the field and with the ball.

Eventually Pembroke won in the 16th over, using just half of their allocated time, but the Malahide boys made the train journey home knowing without an outstanding performance from Little, they may well have won the game.
