Who's the Pro
Another interview this week with Younas Ahmadzai who joins the Mens first XI this season. A brief Q & A to introduce him to you all. Please say hello if you cross paths. We are also looking for additional accommodation offers for Younas from the beginning of June
- Younas Ahmadzai - Right arm offbreak & opening bat
- Where did you grow up? - I was born and brought up in Afghanistan and I spent most of my early years playing cricket in Kabul
- Tell us a bit more about yourself - I am fond of travelling & I hope to be able to travel across Europe. Switzerland, Italy and Germany are a couple of destination countries I want to visit.
- How did you get into Cricket? Any other sports that compete with it? - Since my childhood days my friends and I used to play cricket, slowly I got better and luckily managed to play first class cricket for Afghanistan in my teenage years. I also love swimming and enjoy it, its my best past time when I am away from cricket.
- Favourite & worst cricket related memory - Favourite is I scored 210* in Finals of First class cricket and won the game single handedly for our team, for this I am really proud of and still cherish it and 2nd favourite when I made my First class debut in 2017 against ZIM in Harare where I got 110 runs. Worst - I was part of 2019 WC squad of 25 players, which was in England but missed reaching the final 15 who featured in WC19.
- Any weird Cricket routine habits or quirks - I love spending the whole day in the cricket ground. I never get bored of training, be it any aspect of the game batting, bowling or fielding.
- Finally what you hope to achieve this season - I still remember when I was introduced to the club. I met Hamish, Newie and Finto, I said that I want MCC to win the league this year and wish to see the team in Top positions in the Alan Murray, Irish and senior cup.

YOGA - Monday nights with Gwen

Scam emails
There have been a number of reports of rather crude scam mails purporting to be from executive members. Official communication will only come from malahidecc@hitssports.co.uk or @malahidecricketclub.com email addresses. If in doubt, contact the alleged sender via watsapp or secretary@malahidecricketclub.com.
