Good win for 4ths

10 Aug 2019

4ths chased down 218 to win by 2 wickets and 1.1 overs to spare on grass on the main pitch in the Village.  Sean Drumm 76 was the star with clean, crisp strokeplay from the off.  His innings ran aground when he slipped and was run out.  Ryan Condron picked up the baton and continued the charge with a brisk 39.  Stalwart Joe Jennings steered us home with a calm 11*.  Earlier openers Brian Gilmore 39 (25 singles!) and young Adam Doyle 31 laid the foundation.

In the first innings Leinster 4's got away and bashed an intimidating 218/7 in 40 overs on a slowish wicket and a big outfield.  The bowlers plugged away but never got the upper hand.  Young Zak Oliver Woods showed his class with 8 overs of left arm spin, 2 for 34.  Jennings 1/31 in 8 overs included a very rare bird in overs cricket namely a hat trick of maidens in overs 2,3 and 4 of his spell.
