Colts lose final league game

09 Aug 2019

Munster travelled the long road from Cork despite the forecast for poor weather.  It proved to be a journey worth making as they comprehensively beat the Boys Colts by 8 wickets.

Malahide batted first and never really came to terms with Munster's combination of swing and spin.  Only Aaron Doyle really dominated the bowling.  He was eventually out caught for 28 going for his third six.  Elliot Manks (14) and Matthew Clarke (16) contributed useful runs, but Malahide limped to 107 all out with five overs to spare.

The only way to win from there was to take wickets early.  Eoghan Keohane (1 for 21) and Matthew Jeffrey-Carrick (1 for 13) bowled a hostile opening spell that had Munster at 20 for 2.  From then on though the Munster batsmen took charge and reached the target comfortably in the 19th over.

That concludes the League season.  We won more than we lost and there were some memorable team and individual performances. We wait now for the final standings to see if we've another match to come.
