Various school matches and exams made selection difficult for the first Boys Junior T20 cup game of the season away to Rush. Our team consisted of 8 Minor players and just 3 Juniors as a result.
However, the team performed excellently against a big and strong Rush side who seemed to suffer less with exam nerves.
In the first game he had ever played where batting retirement did not feature, Aaron Doyle seized the moment and scored an excellent 40 runs, before being bowled whilst bravely pushing along the run rate trying to hit the pace attack back over the bowler's head.
Not enough runs on the board from us, so hard to defend, but the lads tried hard and never gave up. Excellent fielding including a great direct hit run out from Mitch from square leg kept victory in sight, but alas, some boundaries from Rush ultimately gave victory to the home team
