T20 Day - 4's win one, lose one

30 May 2018

T20 Saturday at Milverton.

Match 1 @ 10.30
MCC 4 147/8 off 20
The Hills 122/6 off 20
MCC 4 win by 25 runs

On a glorious morning, Shamil Kootembeth and Camron Calder gave the 4's a perfect start.  After a nervy opening, Shamil and Camron tucked in.  The pair put on 87 in 9 overs for the first wicket.  Camron with some mighty blows into the adjacent Archer's field scored 50 in 28 balls.  Shamil was more serene with an excellent 33.  Vikas Gulati 22 added impetus at the end of the innings.  The Vikases (Gulati and Purbiya) opened the bowling and maintained pressure on The Hills batters.  C Grady 57 threatened with some hard hitting until Liam Lydon shut up shop with a mean spell of 4 overs 2 for 12.

Match 2 @ 2.00
MCC 4 105/6 off 20 overs
Adamstown 3 108/4 off 15.2 overs
Adamstown won by 6 wickets.

A comfortable win for the Club from West Dublin which is beginning to make a name for itself.  After losing early wickets, Nick Ashwell 25 and Vikas Gulati 25 steadied the ship with a solid partnership.  Mandip Kumar 13* and David McAlinden 11* beefed up the score with an undefeated 7th wicket stand of 25.  Adamstown were always ahead of the chase and in the end raced away with some powerful hitting reaching the target with nearly 5 overs to spare.  Vikas Purbiya 5 overs 1/26 and Camron Calder 2/31 off 5 were pick of the bowlers.

Thanks to the 3 Umpires including Joe Connolly and The Hills Tea Ladies who put on great spread.
