In the end it was a comfortable victory by 53 runs for Carlow 1 over Malahide 4 on the top pitch on the May Bank Holiday Monday.  MCC restricted the Midlanders to an underpar 161 all out.  Young seamer Mathew Carrick 3/24 in 7 and leg spinner Jared Leonard 4 wickets for 6 runs in 3 overs did most of the damage with much skill.  Leonard was supported by Karro Rao with 2 fine catches in the deep.  Joe Jennings continued his good form with a controlled 2/22 off 9.  Joe removed both openers including the destructive and prolific Rocky Butt.  In reply, MCC were not helped by the run out of opener Rao without facing a ball.  Opener Brian Gilmore (31) and Inderjit Singh (23)  put on 50 for the second wicket.  Sean Drumm, the next highest on 18.  The innings then fell away and MCC bowled out for 108 in 39 overs.
