The 4ths headed out to Observatory Lane to play Leinster 5ths in a re-arranged Intermediate Cup in T20 format. The home side won the toss and elected to bat. A great start from opening bowlers Howard Askew (1-15) and Robin Akhil (0-14) had Leinster under pressure. Youngsters Ben Askew (1-10) and Ryan Condron (0-12) continued the good work and remained composed under pressure from free hitting Shazad (55). Inder Singh (1-20) finally got Shazad and David O' Halloran (0-16) held his nerve at the death leaving Leinster on 113.

In reply Malahide's top four big guns got a little bogged down and by the 12th over we were 58-4 needing another 56 in 8 overs. Enter David (42) and keeper Chinmay Kadam (21) and the boundaries started to flow. At the end of the 17th over Malahide need a run a ball and a win looked possible. Looking for something to change, Leinster brought on their 7th bowler Shyan and it worked as he took out Chinmay and conceded only two runs in his first over. With a couple of big hits needed it just didn't happen and Malahide came up an agonising two runs short.

The result was hard on the Malahide team who for nearly all the game did all the right things. But it was a great game on a great evening and we had some great support from a small group of dedicated Club members. Our under 18's Ryan, David and Ben were superb in the heat of a very competitive T20 game. The disappointment of the result soon started to disappear as Inder provided delicious after match catering in the form of chicken tikka wraps for all the players and supporters from his own Rathmines based Tadka House takeaway & cafe.
