In need of a win, the 5ths lost the toss against Sandyford and got what they wanted and a chance to bowl them out cheaply in the first innings. At 39-4 at the end of the 13th over all was going to plan until the entrance of Shyam Bharti. Eight 4's and fourteen mighty 6's later Bharti was bowled for 138 and Sandyford finished on 262-9. Mixing the bowling around and setting every conceivable field including nearly everyone on the boundary, could not hold the big hitter as balls sailed over heads at regular intervals. A half dozen dropped catches did not help and looking back neither had the eleventh hour move from the main square to the top pitch.

The stuffing had been knocked out of Malahide and it was no surprise to anyone that our innings never got going and we were bowled out for 75 in 31.4 overs and defeat by 187 runs.
