4ths lose out to League Leaders.

13 Aug 2014

On a warm and sunny Wednesday afternoon the 4th XI ended up being well beaten by the probable Division 8 Champions. Leinster 4ths won the toss and decided to bat, the Malahide bowling was good but unfortunately the fielding performance won't be appearing on anyone's highlights tape anytime soon. Conor Gibbons was the stand out bowler with 3 for 36, Conor Herbert took 2 for 35 and Alex Davies 2 for 20. Leinster's total of 180 for 8 in their 45 overs was at least 40 too many with alot of the dropped catches proving expensive not only in terms of runs but also in terms of injury as skipper Quinn ended up at the Swift Care clinic in Swords with a dislocated finger. The VHI Swift Clinic are seriously considering opening a Malahide CC Wing such has been the business we have sent their way this season ! In reply, the run chase never really got going, Inder Singh made 23 before gifting the keeper a stumping, Martin Nicoll was unluckily run out on 17 and Alex Davies was 11 not out at the end. The highlight of Malahide's 104 all out was definitely Conor Gibbon's straight driven 4 , a shot that he has been keeping well hidden for the last 20 years.
