With just 3 balls of the Malahide innings remaining, chasing 200 for victory, Mark Duffy hit the winning 4 which also took him to a superb 100, just reward for an expertly paced run chase. The foundations were laid by a 2nd wicket partnership of 134 between Mark Duffy and Riley Shoebridge who again batted superbly in making 51. David O'Halloran came in at number 4 and made 23 in good time and when he was unluckily run out with only 10 balls remaining he had helped Malahide to within site of the finish line. It was great to have the experience of Kev McPhilemy (making his comeback for the club) coming in at number 5 joining Mark to get us up to the target. Earlier in the day , Malahide spoiled an excellent first 20 overs with some loose bowling which allowed Leinster to get to 199 for 5 in their 40 overs which was about 40 or so more than they should have got. The stand out bowlers were Sean O'Donohue who took 3 for 33 in his 8 overs and Eoin O'Brien who bowled with great control with an 8 over spell of 1 for 21. All in all a great win for the 5th XI and some really good contributions again from the youth players together with a matsterclass from The Duffer !!!
