Summer Camp Big Success

18 Jul 2014

The annual Malahide Cricket Club Summer Camp took place this week in glorious sunshine...for most of the time anyway!

More than 70 children signed up for the camp, with around 30 non-members coming down to the club, many for the first time.  They were greeted by CDO Chris Siddell, and six young coaches from the club.

In a change from previous years the camp was on all day, with children of all ages attending from 10am to 3pm.  The feedback from parents regarding the new times has been very positive so far, and we hope this will mean the camp grows in future years.

There were many new activities and games during the camp, with Danish Cricket and Double Wicket being favourites among the children and coaches alike! All the children ended the week with weary legs after activities were planned to ensure there was very little time waiting around, and a lot of running!

The new format World Cup competition for the more experienced cricketers at the camp was badly affected by the weather, meaning there was no clear winner, with Thailand and Ecuador (both in their first cricket World Cup!!) finishing as joint winners.

The club would like to thank all those who attended the camp, as well as the coaches and volunteers who helped with administration during the week.
