5ths succumb to North County pressure

28 May 2019

On winning the toss and electing to bat, the captain stressed the importance of occupying the crease.  Then he went out and immediately ignored his own advice.

Against a very accurate, probing North County attack, our batsmen struggled to score.  Frustration induced errors and wickets fell.  Oliver Manks (44), playing some excellent attacking shots, proved the exception.  His partnership with fellow Junior A player, James Dickinson (13), was the foundation of Malahide's innings, but it wasn't built on and we were bowled out for 90.

In the field, bowlers and fielders fought hard,  Sarvjeet Singh (1 for 15) and Suhaib Naseem (1 for 21) removed both openers.  The total, though, was impossible to defend and North County won by 8 wickets.
