U13 girls win the league

05 Aug 2017

The U13 girls finished their season in style, unbeaten in the league, with a win in Balbriggan on Saturday morning. Katie Brophy captained the team and chose to field first. A double maiden from Aoife Mitchell was just one example of the fantastic bowling from the girls. Abby McCabe, Alex Brackfield and Beth Deacon all took wickets with Ava Breen, Juliette Evans Garrett, Chloe Bryan and Saibh Mitchell only giving away a handful of runs between them. Birthday Girl Karla Bianchi Monahan and Gemma Devally shared the wicket keeping duties and Balbriggan made a net score of 40.

Gemma opened the batting for Malahide with an impressive 20 runs and the girls followed this up with some of their best scores of the season. Katie and Beth finished the match with 29 runs between them and Malahide made a net score of 125 with the loss of only one wicket.

Well done to all the girls who played throughout the season ,we had a fantastic squad and great support from all the parents. Thank you also for all the coffees which were bought for me and kept me awake (and warm) while scoring. Many thanks to Saibh Mitchell for stepping up and filling in when needed. And the biggest thank you to Alun Brophy for umpiring every match through wind, rain but luckily mostly sunshine.
