Malahide Cricket Club News story

Message from the Chair

23 Dec 2016

Members and Friends

As we close 2016, I wanted to take the opportunity to provide an update since the AGM.

The newly elected Executive met earlier this month and has picked up the day to day management of the club.  Currently the team is moving forward across our core areas of Cricket, Youth, Bar, Fundraising and Development.

We have also identified an opportunity to develop a stronger community reach focus and look forward to a group coming together in the New Year.

The Executive is focused on ensuring all our members have visibility of all activities re Malahide CC throughout 2017 and we will host the first in a series of “Town Hall” (members information evenings) in late January, date to follow shortly.

One of the highlights of the year takes place this Friday when Phil Roche extends his Presidential welcome and thoughts for 2017.  Mulled wine and mince pies will be in abundance!  It is also the night of the Christmas Draw, tickets are still available behind the bar and from Executive members on the night.  This is a key fundraiser so your support is much appreciated.

The 'on-field' aspect of the club is moving along nicely in the off season with great strides made in the formation of the 2017 cricket committee.  Progress has been made establishing work plans and KPIs for the Head Coach and Cricket Development Officer roles, with recruitment news to be announced in the New Year.

One of the key aims for the upcoming season is the development of a cricket strategy and a player development blueprint for the club.  Club members have an integral part to play in the creation of this with your views and ideas being the key driver.  More on this at our “Town Hall”.

We have a lot to look forward to in 2017 in terms of International games scheduled and the promise that a new season holds.  However, we should also take time to reflect on the here and now, how we can help and support each other in terms of club activities and making our club a GREAT destination in Malahide.

On behalf of the Executive Committee I would like to wish you and your families a safe and happy Christmas & New Year, Nollaig Shona agus Athbhliain faoi Mhaise Daoibh, Gesëende Kersfees en Voorspoedige nuwe jaar
