With great parental and club support, the U13 lads travelled to Park Avenue to meet Railway Union and see if the team could go one better than the runner up spot gained in this competition last year.

Railway won the toss and decided to bat, so Diarmuid and Eoghan opened the bowling, with Rory setting the field accordingly.  Following a single off the opening two overs, the wickets then started to fall. First, a trademark yorker saw off one opener and then a good catch from Rory saw off the other. A wicket a piece for the opening bowlers. Rory and Wilhelm both snared wickets in their third overs; complementing two good run outs, again effected by Rory.  Finn delivered in his two overs; Adam D rounded off the innings and Railway were 71-7 from their allotted 20 overs.  No batsman really got going, the scoring being restricted by tight bowling and outstanding ground fielding. Well done to Adam Roche, Josh, Alex, Chris and Jack; with strong support from Daniel at 'keeper.

Wilhelm and Rory then took to the bowling from the outset, hitting 22 runs off the first three overs.  Things didn't really change : on the third bowl of the tenth over, Wilhelm launched a slightly short  delivery over the mid wicket boundary not only to get the maximum, and personal retirement total but also to gain the team win. A fitting finish to a deserved victory.
