The 4ths travelled to Dundalk needing a win. A couple of early arrivee's missed the turn into the ground so Brian Gilmore, experienced in life as well as cricket, found the sign, put it out and ensured our other team mates didn't make the same mistake. This seemed to galvanise the troops into early readiness and on losing the toss strode out to the middle with purpose. Some early whirly arm pace from Oisin Taylor and some bouncy off cutters from Howard Askew was nullified somewhat by the onset of drizzle and a wet ball but nevertheless they continued to restrict the run rate on a ground with very short boundaries. From the 10th over onward, wickets started to fall at regular intervals with the middle three bowlers doing the damage - Zak Woods-Oliver (2-23), Inderjit Singh (3-25) and Ben Askew (2-7). Dundalk finished on 107 all out and Malahide took their tea in good spirits.

In the second over Brian G was cleaned bowled and at 5-1 Malahide wondered. At 74-1 with 23 overs left the wondering had turned to how many win bonus points we would get. Then it unravelled. Riley Shoebridge (21) chipped one to cover and Inderjit was cleaned up both by Jemin. Koushik (50) was still there and at 87-4 we only needed another 21. On came their mystery spinner Brolin and before we knew it the lower order were scrambling for their pads in what was now beautiful evening sunshine. As if by magic, Malahide were bowled out for 100 and shell shocked. 9 wickets for 26 runs amd Dundalk will talk about this one for a while whilst the 4ths will have move on to an important Bank Holiday home double
