With the horse trailers and associated caravans rolling into Anglesea Rd, the Merrion lads had to travel to Malahide's top pitch. In contrast to the cup game last Monday, the sun was shining, the sky was blue and the heat energy sapping. At last true cricket weather and the game took place in a balmy mediterranean milieu.
Rory won the toss again and this time, decided to bat. He and Wilhelm batted sensibly, with first Wilhelm and then Rory retiring for 35 and 37 respectively. Eoghan was unlucky, and then Diarmuid and Jack saw the innings closed, Diarmuid hitting a quick fire 19 not out. 110 required by Merrion.
Despite losing two wickets to consecutive deliveries from Diarmuid; at the 10 over mark, Merrion were 15 runs ahead of the corresponding Malahide score.  A combination of the retirement of the Merrion opener; an animated team conversation at drinks and better fielding then saw the Merrion wickets fall at regular intervals. Mature bowling from Eoghan (3-6) and Adam D left Merrion needing 14 to win in the last over. Rory bowled responsibly to take 2-2 in that over to secure the win for Malahide.
Great catches at the last from Finn D and Oliver; good 'keeping from Jack. Excellent fielding from Adam R, Aaron Doyle and Christopher.  Well done lads and on to the plate semi!
