A game of two contrasting halves for the 5th XI in need of a much needed first win. Choosing to bowl first, Malahide bowled and fielded superbly. Stand in skipper Geoff Read led the way with 2-9 off his 6 overs and Robin Akhal (4-25) fast off spin blew away the middle order and tail. Two great catches, one from Koushik CS a short fine leg and a cracker from young Liam Lydon and deep mid on contributed to Merrion being bowled out for 113 with one ball of the reduced 30 overs to go.

Chasing a lowish total, malhide could not deal with Merrion's back of a length attack and were soon in deep trouble at 38-4 with half the overs gone. Only Malcolm Ogilvie (16), Ben Askew (12) and Geoff (10) reached double figures and the game was over long before we were bowled out for 76.
