Nick Turner's 2nd XI followed up last week's win over Clontarf with a 2nd successive comprehensive victory this time against Laois 1sts on a very warm and bright afternoon at The Village. With the day shaping up to be the best day for cricket (weather wise) so far this Summer, Nick won the toss and decided to have a bat which straight away looked like the right decision as Malahide's opening pair of Nick and Gary Stewart put on 66 for the first wicket. As so often happens though, 66 for 0 soon became 83 for 3 and it took an excellent 4th wicket partnership of 122 between Callum Riches (68, a really good knock) and Cameron Shoebridge (31) to take the total beyond the 200 mark that Malahide were looking for. Malahide were eventually all out for 242 just 2 balls short of the full 50 overs and a more than defendable total on a pitch that was never easy for batting. 

In reply, Laois were never really in the hunt, Malahide's opening bowlers Joe Jennings (1 for 20) and Cameron (1 for 36) picked up where they left off last week by getting rid of both openers. Then two excellent spells of bowling by Leslee Muttahothil (3 for 23) and Callum (2 for 23) knocked a huge hole in the Laois middle order. There were also wickets for Richard Brown (1 for 20) and Glenn Kirwan ( 1 for 1) as the Laois innings subsided to 135 all out in 32 overs. So victory by 107 runs and 25 very valuable league points for Skipper Turner's men.
