A windswept and chilly Malahide top pitch greeted the travelling Carlow team for the first U13  fixture of the 2016 season.  Chris D. won the toss for Malahide and elected to bat.
The 10:00 Sunday morning starts are normally marked by a lethargic beginning, however Ciaran and Jack saw the ball from the outset, setting the tone for a fine team batting performance.  Jack top scored with 19,  well supported by Chris D with 15 and Ellis and Finn with 11 each. A total of 12 boundaries saw the innings finish at net 111.    Good support batting from Chris GE, Zaoib and Adam,  with the latter two hitting boundaries.
Malahide's turn in the field was characterised by a remarkably mature fielding performance.  Intelligently led by Chris D, the bowling was accurate with good backing up :  4 run outs and a stumping  testament to the organised fielding. Finn held a scorcher that he knew very little about. Well done to Daniel with his first wicket:  thanks to Beth for her accurate bowling and helping make up the ten.
