Mathew Clark's Maiden 50 Seals victory for Junior A

13 Jun 2018

With the thoughts of hot, sunny weather now a distant memory, the Junior A Boys hosted Balbriggan on the top pitch on a dreary, drizzly evening more reminiscent of January than June.

Winning the toss and bravely putting Balbriggan in first in failing light, our lads did well in the field in slippery and windy conditions that made things tough. Tight bowling particularly from Oliver JC (2 for 11 off 4) and James Dickinson (3 for 14 off 3) kept the visitors to a total of 127 all out in the final over.

Despite losing Aaron Doyle to a good catch and Daniel Crampton run out pushing a second early on, Mathew Clarke and Elliott Manks set about tearing apart the Balbriggan attack.

Elliott was out caught on the boundary to a fine catch whilst on 45 - which included 10 fours. But the night belonged to Mathew Clarke who opened and carried his bat the the end still unbeaten on a very well constructed 57 Not Out which included 6 fours and a six into the stands of Pitch 1. The first of many big totals for Mathew which he has been threatening all season.

Great overall team effort, fabulous team spirit again. Well played all.
