North County v Malahide Cricket Club Junior Boys B on Sun 29 Jun 2014 at 10m
Malahide Cricket Club Lost by 2 runs

Match report U13B Boys Fall Just Short

The U13B boys lost by 2 runs to North County in Balrothery on Sunday, a valiant middle-order fightback falling just short.

Some wayward bowling and loose fielding gifted the opposition 39 runs in extras as they compiled 114 in their 20 overs. In reply, Malahide started slowly but accelerated in the middle-order as Cormac Burke and Daniel Murphy both reached retirement at 25 and then some lusty hitting from Binyam Keegan put the win within reach. However, needing 17 off the final 4 overs, the boys proceeded to lose more wickets than runs and limped into the final over needing 10 to win. Some valiant running between wickets accumulated 7 byes but no further runs, leaving the team frustratingly 2 runs behind. A good fightback, but the match ended with Malahide knowing it was one that got away.
