Match report It was difficult to decide on whether this performance was 'magnificent' or 'majestic'. Probably both. Batting first, the Malahide boys delivered on of the most mature displays with the bat you could ever hope for from a youth side. 202 from 30 overs, with a great 50 (retired) from Scott Talbot, and a fabulous opening partnership from Scott with Alex Davies (28) that set up the innings and was followed by controlled but aggressive scoring from Riley Shoebridge (23), Sean Drumm (28), Red Hansen and Ryan Condron.
Of course that was only half the job. We still had to bowl. And so started the Riley Shoebridge show!! A deliberate tactic to open with a spinner paid off as Riley took his first wicket with the second ball of the innings, and then went on to deliver 7-12 from four overs - averaging a wicket just over every three balls. A fantastic bowling performance. The other two Balbriggan wickets were taken by Alex Hallows and Red Hansen, leaving them 51 all out in eleven overs.
The game was played in good spirit throughout and the boys were incredibly professional - from the moment they started warming up, to the end of the game. Ryan Condron was excellent as captain, and the fielding was also top notch with Red and Ravi holding the only two catches offered. Sometimes it just all comes together!
