Match report Improved Performance as 13A Boys Fall Short

Malahide U13A boys lost a close match to Rush on Sunday in what was an improved performance on recent matches. Put in to bat in overcast conditions, Malahide batted well, with openers David O'Halloran and Alex Hallows playing intelligent innings to each reach retirement at 35. Backed up by some power hitting by Red Hansen at the death, the boys compiled their highest score of the season at 125.

In reply, an early wicket to Ryan Court encouraged Malahide, but Rush kept the scoreboard ticking over, punishing any short deliveries or poor fielding. Zac Oliver-Woods bowled some great legspin for 2 wickets, and another two wickets for Red Hansen towards the end gave some hope, but Rush were always that little bit ahead on run rate and reached the target with 3 overs to spare.
