Match report 13A Boys just fail to hold off Terenure

The 13A boys lost an entertaining league match at home to Terenure on Sunday morning. Batting first, Malahide went 8 overs and 78 runs before the first wicket fell, with Ryan Court unlucky to be caught at deep square leg for 16. Before that David O'Halloran had put together a fantastic, quick fire 35 retired, supported by his opening partner Cormac Burke who batted through 15 overs for a resolute 28. The middle and late order found the going harder, and Malahide lost a tumble of wickets towards the end, including succumbing to a hatrick, before finishing on a very creditable and defendable 124.

Terenure's reply was brisk and strong, aided by some short bowling and disappointing fielding. They raced to 100 off 10 overs with two batters reaching retirement, before Connor Kennedy took the ball and proceeded to take 3 for 9 off three overs. This slowed Terenure to a crawl, and they laboriously limped to the 125 required with three overs remaining. Malahide were left wondering about three late catches that were grassed, and those early expensive overs.
