Match report Finishes don't get much closer or better than this. With 9 wickets down and 1 ball remaining, Malahide need one to tie and two to win, Eoin O'Brien plays an excellent cover drive into the gap to get the 5th's season off to a winning start. This was a great match played in a good spirit by both teams, it was "nip and tuck" all the way and it was great to get the match finished despite numerous heavy showers. It was a great alround performance by the team but special mention should go to David Byrne (34 runs and 2 great catches) who only got half an hours notice that he was playing, Sean O'Donoghue (2 for 27 and 16 crucial runs at the end of the innings. It was also great to have Kevin McPhilemy back in Malahide colours and his experience and know how behind the stumps made a big difference. A great start to the season but alot to live up to.
