Malahide Cricket Club Won By 87 runs

Match report Malahide won the toss and elected to bat in an agreed 40/40 game. Boasting a strong batting line up MCC were in trouble at drinks at 4/40 with T Stanton's(4-12)left armers accounting for MCC top order. Stephen Rubbathan (58) and Desmond Hortsmann (28) steadied the ship and then increased the tempo. Ruby's 58 was a very well compiled innings. Assisted by some at the death hitting from Oisin Taylor a respectable but not brilliant 162-8 was posted. With Merrion's strong batting order the chase was on and at tea the game was in the balance. However MCC's bowlers set about their task and a fine opening spell by Conor Herbert (2-14) followed by an into the wind spell from Hamish Manks (5-13) soon accounted for the heart of the Merrion response. An 87 run win to MCC. Stephen Rubbathan man of match.
