Match report On a bright evening in the village Malahide Ladies 2nds under new Skipper Clara Pryor got their season underway by winning the toss and electing to field. A very youthful looking side bowled and fielded very well picking up 6 wickets and restricting a more experienced Phoenix side to 88 runs off their 25 overs with all the bowlers picking up a wicket and Fiona Gill picking up 2 wickets.

In response Meabh Reid 3 and Clara Pryor 7 started well before falling early to some very tight and accurate bowling by a young Phoenix bowling attack. Following the fall of the early wickets Fiona Gill 35 and Sarah Ðeane 18 built a steady partnership gradually working away at the target until both fell in the final over trying to score the 10 runs required to win in the last over. This brought Sinead McKeaney 0* and Caoimhe McCann 7* to the crease with Caoimhe giving it her best shot to score the 6 required off the final ball and nearly making it with the ball bouncing a few times before hitting the boundary fence leaving the home side falling agonisingly short by 1 run.

Well done and hard luck to all involved especially Ann-Marie Hall playing her 1st ever game of cricket.
