Malahide Cricket Club Won By 171 runs

Match report Malahide 1sts won the toss and elected to bat on a cold and overcast evening. Clare Shillington 135* and Mary Waldron 76* put on an unbeaten opening stand of 219 runs off their 20 overs. The Malahide Skipper was determined to get the season off to a flying start launching the 1st delivery of the innings out of the new ground for the first of 7 maximums. The evening walkers were called into action returning the ball to the ground at regular intervals. Mary Waldron celebrated her 1st game for Malahide with a very controlled supporting innings which accelerated as the innings moved along ending unbeaten with a half century and a new personal top score.

In reply Pembroke 2nds made 48 for the loss of 8 wickets off their 20 overs with S Gray and J Delaney joint Top scorers with 13 apiece. The home side welcomed back Laura Morgan after a season out and new player Cathy Murphy who both picked up 3 wickets each for Malahide in an excellent bowling display ably supported by up and coming stars Margaret Richardson and Sorcha O'Carolan Murphy. A very tight fielding performance by the home side in disappearing light and freezing conditions was rewarded with Sorcha O'Carolan Murphy and Cathy Murphy picking up a run out each.

The Ladies would like to thank Johnny Pryor for braving the cold and umpiring along with the loyal supporters who stuck it out to the end.
