Malahide Cricket Club Lost by 15 runs

Match report Our Taveners suffered another defeat Friday loosing to Dalky Archives by 15 runs. As DA did not have a full team present at the start Malahide elected to bowl first on what turned out to be a very a dead wicket. Unfortunately the home team were used to it and appreciated the fuller bowling of the visitors with 3 of their players reaching automatic retirement pushing the overall score to 125 for the loss of 3 wickets. Askew and Connolly being the pick of the Malahide bowlers even if the score book states Murphy’s 2 overs went for only 5 runs ! It was agreed upon review back in the Village that the Pimms on offer must have clouded the scorers ability to count.

The chase proved too difficult as few of the batters could master the short bowling and lack of any bounce. Danny Smith being the only retiree and that even took 11 scoring shots with Perry, Keegan & Murphy the only others to reach double figures. Pat Young described the delivery that pitched, didn’t bounce and ran under his bat as a “rat of a ball” ! With a 2 week window before the next game it’s an opportunity to talk about ways of stopping the rot !
