U13B boys a class above Pembroke
The U13B boys played their best game of the season yet to comfortably beat Pembroke by 87 runs on a typical Irish summers day at Sandymount. Batting first, Malahide got off to a flyer with David O'Halloran and Luca Keegan sharing a second-wicket partnership of 63 in 9 overs, with both boys reaching retirement at 28. Alex Hallows(13), Ryan Condron(18) and Alex Davies(16no) kept up the pace to reach 134 at the end of 20 overs, far and away the biggest score of the season.
In reply, Pembroke were immediately under pressure with a great leg side catch from wicket keeper Riley Shoebridge off Jacob Whelan and two fantastic runouts by Zac Wood-Oliver and John Burke. With Binyam Keegan and new-comer Luis doing trojan work in the field, the Malahide bowlers kept the pressure on and the wickets coming, Alex Davies (2 for 2) and Ryan Condron (2 for 5) returning figures to make Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne proud. Pembroke were down to their last pair by 12 overs and it wasn't long before Riley had snaffled a caught & bowled to bring the game to a close with Malahide 87 runs ahead. This was a truly great all-round performance by all the boys with bat, ball and in the field.
