Match report The MCC U11c team joined the MCC U11 girls as the first competitive league matches to be played on the newly developed ground. On a glorious Saturday morning U11c captain of the day Mathew Reynolds put the Balbriggan u11c’s into bat. A very much improved bowling effort saw the wide count fall by 33%. Well done to all the mid week trainers. Finn opened the bowling with a wicket maiden (possibly the first on the ground) and finished without conceding a run 2,2,0-1, Other wickets cam from Tom, Ciaran, Mathew JC, Diarmuid, Corey and two from Oliver Manks (2,0,6-2). Mathew Reynolds completed a caught and bowled and other fielding was very good. In total the team took 10 Balbriggan dismissals. On the batting front the team struggled against the competitive Balbriggan attack but did well to lose only 8 wickets. Christopher Deacon hit the only boundary top scoring with 5*. A huge extra count kept MCC in the game to the very end. On paper the team lost by only 3 runs but a morale victory to the side who took on a nearly A strength side from Balbriggan. Ciaran was named player of the day for his improved bowling effort (2,1,3-1)
