Match report Even though this was a friendly, it was a hugely significant match as it was the last game played on the ground before the re-development.So there were a number of "lasts", the last half century scored , Cameron Shoebridge (51)and the last 6 hit over the wall by Mark Smith.
Against a very good English Provincial team, Malahide U15's gave a great account of themselves. Coventry reached 191 for 8 in their 20 overs which featured some excellent running between the wickets, Malahide bowled well with Tim Doherty (3 for 27) and Eoin O'Brien (2 for 36) being the pick of the bowlers.In response, Malahide were put under pressure by an excellent spell of bowling from the Coventry openers and soon found themselves in trouble at 17 for 3 . Cameron Shoebridge (51) and Shyam Gollapalli (9) then began the process of re-building the innings. When Shyam was run out Timmy Doherty (32)and Cameron then put together a partnership of 102 for the 5th wicket. However, the damage had been done earlier in the innings and despite a huge six from Mark Smith, Malahide finished their innings 47 runs short. The match was played in a great spirit and it was a fitting way to finish off on the old square.
