Match report
A comprehensive victory played out on a very slow,low turner that always made batting difficult . Having won the toss and elected to bat the Malahide openers batted carefully whilst always looking to keep the scoreboard ticking over, with the ball keeping very low boundaries were always going to be rare items but both Cian Reid (13) and Cameron Shoebridge (29) worked hard to build the score. An excellent 2nd wicket partnership of 55 between Cameron and Luke Birrell (37no) ensured that Malahide posted a very competitative total of 99 in their 20 overs. In reply , The Phoenix batsmen struggled against the accuracy of Andy Jackson (3 for 1) and Cian Reid (1 for 3) and never looked like keeping up with the run rate. Further damage to the Phoenix cause from Cameron Shoebridge ( 2 for 3) and Luke Birrell (1 for 0) meant that their innings stumbled to a close in the 12th over with Ravi Gollapalli delivering the Coup de Grace.
