Malahide U11C boys beat Phoenix by 4 runs on Saturday July 16. Bowling first, Malahide restricted Phoenix on a small ground to 93 for 5. Isaac Elebert bowled two terrific overs, ably supported by Oliver and Elliot Manks, and Zac Woods who took 2 wickets in the final over for 1 run and just missed out on his hattrick. There was also excellent fielding from Killian Keohane and Paul Devine as well as a great run out from Tom Reed. In reply, Joe and Connor Kennedy got Malahide off to a flying start with a partnership of 30, including 4 boundaries from Conor. The batsmen to follow all kept the run rate ticking over before Zac Woods smashed two sixes and two fours in a fantastic innings of 24. Malahide were coasting to victory at that point, however Phoenix fought back with 5 quick wickets and Malahide's last pair of Eoghan Keohane and Diarmuid Burke endured a tense last two overs. Scores were tied with one ball remaining, which was a leg-side delivery which evaded the keeper and raced to the boundary. A close victory by 4 runs and a great performance by Malahide!
