Match report
Despite a great comeback in the field on Sat 28 May, Malahide U11Bs lost to a strong Leinster team by 72 runs. Leinster batted first and quickly moved to 76 for 2 from 8 overs. Good efforts stopping boundaries from Ian Darroch, Binyam Keegan and Jack Rainey, plus early wickets from Hugh Joyce and Matthew Kavanagh prevented two strong Leinster opening pairs from a higher total. From this point, Malahide fought back to restrict Leinster to 19 further runs from their last 12 overs, with David O'Halloran returning fantastic figures of 4/6 from 4 overs and Ben Askew stopping everything behind the stumps.
In reply, Malahide struggled to impose with the bat, finding it hard to pierce the ring of Leinster fielders. David O'Halloran top scored for the second week in a row with 7, and whilst Killian Burke, Ben Askew and Ben Rainey showed good defensive technique, Malahide fell well short of Leinster's total. Some work to do on our batting, but a good fielding performance to build on!
